About the programme

The Computer Science and Business Studies specialisation consists of 120 European Credit Transfer System (EC) points and includes a computer science component (60 - 80 EC) and a business component (40 - 60 EC).

Programme overview

The curriculum of this master’s specialisation consists of a combination of Computer Science and business-oriented courses and several course at the intersection of the two.

The Computer Science and Business Studies specialisation is structured as follows:

Computer Science component (60-80 ECTS):

  • Core courses in Computer Science & Business Studies (22 EC in total)
  • Elective courses in Computer Science or in Computer Science & Business Studies (16-36 EC in total)
  • Master’s Thesis Research Project  (22 EC; to be combined with the Business Studies internship).

Business Studies component (40-60 ECTS):

  • Core  courses in Business Studies (15 EC)
  • Business research methods (5 EC)
  • Business Studies electives (0-20 EC)
  • Business Studies internship (20 EC; to be combined with the Master’s Thesis Research Project)

The Computer Science & Business Studies programme is a research-oriented master programme, with strong orientation towards practical applicability in organisations and society. It requires you to have the appropriate knowledge and skills before you start. The most important prior knowledge and skills can be summarised as follows:

  • Good knowledge of programme development and software engineering
  • Good programming skills in Python
  • Good knowledge of statistics
  • Basic understanding of artificial intelligence
  • Good academic reading and writing skills; proficient in LaTeX
  • Excellent command of English, both in writing and speaking
  • Independent and critical research attitude
  • Strong interest in management and organisation
