Are you interested in studying Science for Sustainable Societies, and curious what it is like to study the programme? Join us for our Experience Day! This fun and interactive day will give you a comprehensive overview of the programme. You will attend interactive lectures on both natural and social sciences, focusing on environmental issues. Lastly, you will participate in a lecture that demonstrates how these fields are connected.

In your first class you will be taught about the impact of medical pollution on our environment, especially about how it affects fish populations. Afterwards, you will join a campus tour and a vegetarian lunch. During the lunch you have the opportunity to interact with our students and ask questions you may have about the programme or student life in Leiden.  

In the afternoon you will attend a lecture on the politics of environmental solutions. While many researchers in universities and non-governmental organizations put their heart and soul into solving environmental problems, coming up with good solutions is not simple. What is a good solution to environmental problems?   

The day concludes with an integrated lecture that brings together insights from both ecological and anthropological sciences, providing a broader perspective on tackling environmental challenges. In the lecture you discuss biodiversity conservation from a global and local level, from Tanzania and the Philippines to the return of the wolf in the Netherlands.
