Research
I’m now focusing on the problem of ontological difference, alterity and spatiality in Heidegger’s philosophy, and exploring the relationship between Heidegerian ontological difference and the debate about infinity in German idealism. I believe How to understand the “not” in ontological difference is important for re-interpreting the relationship between temporality and spatiality, subjectivity and objectivity in Heidegger’s philosophy. This problem about the negativity of “not” can be traced back to Hegel’s idea about reflection and true infinity, and Schelling’s critique about positive and negative philosophy. I hope to illustrate how the change of Heidegger’s views on this “not” shape his views on alterity and openness.
I’m also interested in the ethical and political consequences of this problem especially about onto-theology, political mobilization and modern nationalism. I hope to illustrate the danger of misunderstanding the ontological “not” as simply external antagonism and its consequences of destructive mobilization and polarization.
