About:
Y.E.M. (Youri) Cremers LLM, MJur joined the Institute of Private Law of the Faculty of Law as a PhD Fellow in September 2023. He studied law in Maastricht (LLB), Leiden (LLM) and Oxford (MJur). During his studies he was, inter alia, an editor of Ars Aequi and the Oxford University Commonwealth Law Journal. His PhD research concerns the security rights of pledge ('pand') and mortgage ('hypotheek') under Dutch law, and queries whether the person holding such rights is required to be the creditor of the secured obligation, too. His (research) interests lie, principally, in property law and family property law.
