Tim van Lit

Tim van Lit is an external PhD candidate at the Van Vollenhoven Institute. Title of his research: The influence of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee’s military nature on decisions in the criminal justice system.
Tim van Lit obtained his MSc in Criminal Justice at Leiden University in 2017 and enlisted as an officer with the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee (RNM) afterwards. The RNM is a military police organization within the Dutch Armed Forces. Currently Tim is team leader in an operational environment.
His research concerns the role of the RNM in the dual Dutch police system. Specifically the influence of the military nature and status of this organization in the criminal justice domain. Individual decision-making, organizational culture and structure, and moral and legal considerations are aspects of his study.
