Semiha Aydin is a PhD student in the Developmental and Educational Psychology unit of the Institute of Psychology at Leiden University.

She studied Clinical Psychology and Health Psychology at Leiden University. During her clinical and research internship she focused on the treatment of anxiety disorders. After obtaining her masters degree, she worked in the clinical field and as a teaching assistant at the Institute of Psychology.
 
As a PhD candidate Semiha is interested in the timely identification and referral of youth with a social anxiety disorder. To gain insight in the presentation of social anxiety disorder in primary healthcare, she works with routine healthcare data obtained within primary healthcare as well as secondary mental healthcare. Her project is embedded within the research profile area Health, Prevention and the Human Life Cycle in which researchers of the department of Public Health and Primary Care of the LUMC and the Leiden University Faculty of Social Sciences collaborate with clinical institutions in the nearby area.
