I am a PhD student at the Institute of Biology (IBL). My research project focuses on Identification and characterization of novel lignin-degrading enzymes in Pseudomonas putida.
Lignin is one of the most abundant natural polymers. In contrast, efficient utilization of the lignin remains a challenge, mainly caused by its complex structure. Indeed, studies have showed strains of Pseudomonas putida can degrade lignin. My PhD project focuses on Pseudomonas putida as an efficient microbial host for lignin utilization and biobased production of valuable compounds.
