Nienke Wieringa studied biology in Utrecht, with a special interest in tropical ecology. While working as a teacher of the natural environment, she got infected by the enthusiasm for teaching. She graduated from the ICLON Graduate School of Teaching in 2006 and has been working as a biology teacher at the Zandvlietcollege in The Hague since. In 2007 she started her PhD at ICLON, which she now combines with being a teacher educator.
