Michiel Smit is a legal scholar and historian and has been working at the Intellectual Property section since 2023.
Michiel Smit studied law (Civil Law, cum laude) and history (Research Master, cum laude) in Leiden.
His doctoral research focuses on the 'adaptation' in copyright, examining both its historical development and its contemporary challenges in relation to generative AI.
