General Practice

The LUMC Professor of General Practice is head of a department with four disciplines (in addition to General Practice, it hosts Elderly Care Medicine -SOG-, Public Health / Population Health and Medical Anthropology), organizing an important part of the LUMC bachelor and master Medical School and the two largest specialist training schools in the region (about 220 GPs and about 80 ECM). This puts him in the middle of the changing extramural health care field. A team of 7 professors appointed at the department, works together in two successful research programs, namely Geriatrics in Primary Care and Prevention, Population Health and Disease Management - PrePoD. The newly established LUMC Campus The Hague enables further development of education and research in the area of Population Health Management, prevention and risk group policy, which means that the LUMC is better aligned with the extramural questions from the National Science Agenda.
