Marie-Therese is a postdoctoral researcher at Leiden University’s Institute of Security & Global Affairs and a PhD candidate in Political Science at the University of Mannheim. Her research examines how societies navigating post-conflict transitions and democratic backsliding experience and respond to political violence. She is particularly interested in how terrorism shapes state and citizen behavior and how interventions, such as policing and other security measures, can mitigate these threats. Marie obtained an MA in International War Studies from University College Dublin and the University of Potsdam, and a BA in North American Studies from the Free University of Berlin.
