Johan Jol is a guest lecturer for the Department of Business Studies of the Leiden Law School. .
Johan Jol started to work in 1989 as external legal counsel for the law firm De Brauw. In 1996 he started his own lawyers firm. In 1999 he decided to become an in-house lawyer. Between 2000 and 20007 he was head legal for NIBC Bank N.V. Between 2008 and 2012 he worked as an independent legal advisor. He was assistant professor for the Thomas Jefferson Law School in San Diego, teaching International Comparative Bankruptcy Law, between 2011 and 2013.
Johan is since 2012 employed by ABN AMRO Bank N.V as senior legal counsel as a part of the Financial Restructuring and Recovery Legal team. He also works as an independent teacher using the name Legal Houdini Academy (see: www.legalhoudini.nl ).
He is a member of the Netherlands Association for Comparative and International Insolvency Law, a fellow of INSOLAD (Dutch Insolvency practitioners association), a member of INSOL Europe and a fellow of INSOL, having completed the Global Insolvency Practice Course in 2013.
