Hester de Boer is working as a PhD Candidate at the Institute of Criminal Law and Criminology at Leiden University. She completed her bachelor Child and Educational Studies and the master programmes Global Criminology and Gender Studies at Utrecht University. During her master programme she was an intern at Bureau Clara Wichmann. After her studies, she worked at Bureau Beke as a researcher for two years.
Research
Hester conducts a comparative criminal justice research on the differences in prison populations between the Netherlands and Belgium. The research is part of the research programme Criminal Justice: Legitimacy, Accountability, and Effectivity.
