Professional experience

Haye obtained his BSc degree in Natural and Social Sciences at the University of Amsterdam in 2019, majoring in the Biological Sciences track of Ecology & Evolution. For his BSc thesis, he worked as a diver and research intern at St. Eustatius National Parks (STENAPA) where he investigated coral reef restoration, centring on Elkhorn coral (Acropora palmata). Additionally, he completed a minor in Practical Philosophy and a minor in Theoretical Philosophy, respectively focussing on liberal political philosophy and philosophy in arts and culture.

In 2021, Haye received his MSc degree in Industrial Ecology at Leiden University and Delft University of Technology. Here, he specialized in Environmentally Extended Input-Output Analysis (E-IOA), using it for attributing scope-3 emissions to align investment portfolios with the Paris Agreements goals and working as a Teaching Assistant for the E-IOA course. For his MSc thesis, he turned to political philosophy again to investigate normative uncertainties in the North Sea Consultation (Noordzeeoverleg), in which the energy transition on sea was planned to enact the Dutch Climate Agreement. This research led to a publication on the moral role of the ‘healthy sea’ metaphor in this political negotiation process.

Research topic

Haye is currently working as a PhD researcher at the C-Scape program. His research focuses on the evaluation of nature-based solutions in policymaking and management for coastal climate adaptation.
