New Professor Hanneke Hulst is a team player
Hanneke Hulst holds the Leiden chair in Neuropsychology in Health and Disease. She also leads the Health, Medical and Neuropsychology (HMN) unit.
Research on cognitive impairment in MS
Her research interests range from basic to applied around cognitive impairment in people with the brain disease multiple sclerosis (MS). She searches for the neurobiological correlates of cognitive impairment in MS using advanced MRI techniques while working to improve care and treatment through the development of digital tools (Multiple Screener).
Outreach
Hanneke writes popular science columns for www.msweb.nl and the MS Vereniging Nederland, among others, and is general manager of Stichting Brein in Beeld, which is committed to translating (neuro)scientific knowledge to a general audience.
Recognition and Rewards
Since 2018, Hanneke has been a (board) member of De Jonge Akademie (KNAW) where, among other things, she is committed to the new Recognition and Rewards.
Short CV
Between 2007 and 2021, she worked at Amsterdam UMC (location VUmc). There she worked successively as a PhD student (2009-2013), postdoctoral researcher (2013-2016) and University Lecturer (2016-2021). At VU University Amsterdam, Hanneke Hulst completed the Bachelor and Master of Health Sciences (2005) and also the Master of Neuroscience (2008). She recently added the Master of Philosophy, Bioethics and Health to enrich her neuroscience research (2020).
