Barend Verkerk is associated with the Company Law Department, Institute of Private Law as a lecturer Company Law since August 2006.
Barend Verkerk completed his master Company Law at the University of Leiden in 2001. Subsequently he started working as a lawyer.
On a parttime basis Barend lectures at the corporate law department of Leiden University since 2006. He regularly speaks on corporate law elsewhere. He published on corporate law and commented on case law in various legal periodicals.
As a lawyer Barend is associated with AKD in Rotterdam since 2002. Over the years he gained extensive experience in legal advice and litigation on corporate and commercial matters. He acted in proceedings before various Dutch courts, including inquiry proceedings before the Enterprise Chamber of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal (“Ondernemingskamer”). He also pleaded before the European Court of Justice.
