Short CV

Aniek Siezenga is a PhD student at Leiden university and affiliated with the Max Planck Institute for the study of Crime, Security and Law in Freiburg. Under the supervision of prof. dr. Jean-Louis van Gelder, she is involved in the ERC research program "CRIMETIME". This research project focuses on the development of a virtual reality and smartphone intervention for young delinquents.

After completing her master’s degree Clinical Pedagogical Sciences at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, she worked as a therapist at de Waag (centre for ambulant forensic mental health care) and in a social team, and as a teacher at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. As of October 2020, Aniek works at Leiden University.

Research

The research project ‘FutureU’ aims to develop an intervention for reducing self-defeating and criminal behavior. Technology, such as Virtual Reality and smartphone apps, is used to explore the possibilities for offender rehabilitation.
