Research

Andrea Reyes Elizondo is a researcher at the Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS), where she mainly works on Dutch and European projects on research integrity, open science, research culture, and scholarly communication. She has worked for projects such as RISIS, GraspOS, PRINTEGER, SOPs4RI, CitiObs. She currently co-coordinates 23 Dutch initiatives to recognize and reward OS practices (an OSNL funded project) and has ongoing coordination responsibilities for the focal area Culture & Evaluation.

In addition to her work at CWTS, she has a PhD project on reading history at Leiden University Centre for the Arts in Society (LUCAS). In her dissertation, she seeks to reconstruct the reading possibilities, called reading spaces, in eighteenth century New Spain (colonial Mexico). To this end she has been looking into traces of literacy, book possession, proscriptions of reading, and the literary culture of the colony. For LUCAS she has also worked as a lecturer in previous semesters.

Since 2025, Andrea has been involved with colleagues in the Netherlands, Europe and beyond calling academic institutions to not adopt AI uncritically through an open letter and a position paper. On this topic, she has been giving lectures and workshops on reclaiming reading and writing skills as well as how to approach AI from a research integrity point of view.
