Since 2016, Albert has held a position as a lecturer, now working for 2 days per week. His primary focus is pension law. In addition, Albert has taught practical and tutorial sessions in the master's program in labor law in recent years and has supervised theses.He also coordinated those courses and is responsible for the Academic Skills Track within the Labor Law master's program.

Regarding pension law, Albert has focused on matters pertaining to pension law, particularly concerning pension scheme amendments, pension fund governance, and the Dutch system of compulsory industry-wide pension funds. Additionally, Albert has an interest in the general property law aspects of the pension sector's operation. He regularly publishes and speaks on these topics. In the coming years, these themes will remain relevant due to the implementation of the Future Pensions Act until 2028.

Albert graduated from Groningen University in 1983. In 1985, he obtained an LLM from Duke University, Durham NC, USA. From 1986 to 2021, Albert worked as a lawyer at Van Doorne in Amsterdam, initially in labor law and later in pension law/the pension market. At Van Doorne, he also held various management roles, including managing partner from 2001 to 2005.

In addition to his work in Leiden, Albert has been active in various roles. He served on the boards of schools, sports clubs, and the Association of Pension Lawyers, and was active in local politics in Amsterdam. Currently, he is, among other things, the chair of the Dispute Committee of GIP (the Dispute Resolution Body for Pension Funds established in 2024 under the Future Pensions Act) and a deputy judge at the Court of Appeal in The Hague. Furthermore, he enjoys singing, including with the Amsterdam KCOV Excelsior.
