Research
Lieke Bes is a research assistant to Dr. Letty ten Harkel for the project 'Living in an emporium: An isotopic investigation of diet and mobility in early medieval Dorestad (Netherlands)'. Her research focuses on stable carbon and nitrogen isotope analysis of human skeletal remains in order to reconstruct past diet. She combines this with a physical-anthropological examination of the bones to gain a more complete insight into the identity and daily lives of people living in the past.
