The Brussels regional government has defined targets for waste reduction. Various efforts have resulted in an improvement, but the targets are still not met. The Brussels regional government considers to formulate a policy on dematerialisation in order to reach the desired waste volume reduction, especially in the area of a shift from products to services. The aim of this project was to assess the effectiveness of a number of dematerialisation options and give an indication of possible side-effects. This has resulted in a number of recommendations to the Brussels government.
