Including quantitative uncertainties in LCIs is an essential step to make statistically supported conclusions. To date, quantitative uncertainties have mainly been evaluated using the pedigree approach. This, however, only evaluates uncertainties related to post-normal science. The present approach also adopts inherent uncertainties (inaccurate measurements) and spread (variability around means as a result of horizontal averaging). The sum of these three sources of variance makes up the overall dispersion.
