Daniel Peat Re-Elected to the Board of the European Society of International Law

At the General Assembly held during the 2026 ESIL Annual Conference in Málaga, Spain, Dr. Daniel Peat, Assistant Professor of International Law at Leiden University, was re-elected as of September 5, 2026, for a term of four year sto the Board of the European Society of International Law (ESIL).

ESIL is a dynamic network of scholars, researchers, and practitioners in the field of international law. The Society aims to encourage the study of international law, foster inquiry, discussion, and innovation, and promote a deeper understanding of the role of international law in contemporary global affairs.

First elected to the ESIL Board in 2022 and having served as Secretary-General of the Society for the past year, Dr. Peat has been actively engaged with ESIL for nearly a decade, including co-founding and coordinating the Interest Group on Social Sciences and International Law.

In his renewed mandate, Dr. Peat will focus on supporting members across all career stages, maximising the Society's financial sustainability, and increasing engagement with underrepresented communities, including practitioners and scholars from Central and Eastern Europe.
