Support new femicide prevention research
Crowdfunding
A woman is killed every eight days in the Netherlands. More knowledge is vital to protecting women. Professor Marieke Liem and her team aim to conduct further research into preventing femicide. Help make this new research possible.
Femicide is the killing of women or girls because they are female. In the Femicide Monitor project, Liem and her team are investigating how femicide can be prevented. Thanks to previous public support, they have built a solid foundation. Their follow-up research now focuses on an under-represented yet crucial group: women who have managed to escape a life-threatening situation. What factors helped them get away? Who or what made a difference? And what lessons can we learn to protect other women sooner?
Lessons from survivors
Your support will allow the research team to conduct in-depth interviews with women who survived life-threatening partner violence and managed to escape. Their experiences can offer valuable insights for family, friends and support and other professionals. The team will share this information with partner organisations and will translate the results into recommendations for policy and practice. Every donation, however large or small, will contribute to knowledge that can help protect women and prevent future femicide. The research is being conducted in collaboration with Veilig Thuis, Filomena, Fier, Blijf Groep and Rosa Manus in Leiden.
