Virtual Foresight Exercise with Europol

Early November, Professor of European Law Jorrit Rijpma contributed to Europol's Virtual Foresight Exercise to address the future impact on serious and organised crime in the EU. Human trafficking, smuggling and other forms of organised cross border crime fall within the competence of Europol.

Together with other experts, Rijpma identified fifteen key drivers for change in the wider environment that may have an impact on serious and organised crime in the EU (see attachment). The results will provide a basis for further dialogues with law enforcement experts such as the analytical work for the EU Serious and Organised Crime Threat Assessment (EU SOCTA) and will be published in a Europol publication on the future of serious and organised crime in 2021.
