The FGGA decade

A lot has happened within our faculty over the past ten years.

Leiden University College The Hague

In September 2010 the Bachelor Liberal Arts & Sciences: Global Challenges - programme started its first cohort at Leiden University College on the Lange Houtstraat in The Hague. Ten years later, LUC received the 'Top rated Programme' seal for the seventh time in a row and is awarded best University College of The Netherlands in 2020. As of 2013, LUC is located at the Anna van Buereplein next to The Hague Central Station. This was one year after the opening of the Schouwburgstraat location. This location was opened by Prince Willem-Alexander in September 2012.

Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs

A new fitting name was chosen for our faculty in 2015. From 1 January 2016 the Faculty Campus The Hague officially changed into the Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs. This name and faculty henceforth represented the Institute of Public Administration, Institute Security and Global Affairs, Leiden University College and three specific centres in The Hague. Meanwhile, the number of students in The Hague grew considerably, so the HOP week was organised for the first time in August 2016 to introduce new students to the city, student life, and our faculty.

Bachelor Security Studies

In September 2017, the new Bachelor of Security Studies, developed by the Institute of Security and Global Affairs, began. This new bachelor started just in time to make use of the new Wijnhaven building, which was opened in early 2017. One year later, in February 2018, this new university building was awarded an architecture prize.

Graduation Ceremonies Institute of Public Administration

In 2017, the Campus The Hague Career Event was organised for the first time by the Career Service of FGGA and Humanities. Last year, the third edition of this event took place, giving students and recent graduates the opportunity to network with employers and attend workshops. 2019 also marked the first graduation ceremonies in The Hague of the Bachelor and Master programmes of the Institute of Public Administration. We look back on a great and successful decade for our faculty, for the coming years we hope the same. Below is a small overview of the past ten years.
