Daan Weggemans in NRC: Locked-up terrorists should be able to earn an income
The Dutch Department of Justice will give imprisoned terrorists the opportunity to earn money. This should have an positive effect on the resocialisation of detainees.
Daan Weggemans, terrorism researcher at the Institute for Security and Global Affairs at Leiden University says this is a good thing. Weggemans studied the re-integration of jihadi ex-detainees for a couple of years. Detainees should be prepared for the live outside imprisonment. Letting prisoners work for money in exchange, could help with the resocialisation of jihadi terrorists.
