Vestert Borger chairs panel at the conference ‘The EMU at Twenty’

On Saturday 17 November 2018 Vestert Borger chaired a panel at the conference ‘The EMU at Twenty’.

The conference was organized by Amy Verdun, Professor of European Politics and Political Economy at Leiden University, and David Howarth, Professor of Political Economy at the University of Luxembourg. It brought together various scholars on the economic and monetary union whose contributions aimed to offer a state-of-the-art analysis of the institutional design of EMU and the challenges of the past decade.

Vestert chaired a session on the changed role and position of the European Central Bank. During the session Michele Chang, Professor in the Department of European Political and Administrative Studies at the College of Europe in Bruges, presented her paper ‘The ECB as sui generis? The ECB, the Federal Reserve, and central bank accountability’. Ad van Riet, former senior advisor at the European Central Bank, acted as discussant.
