Livestream: Sean Carroll gives Ehrenfest Colloquium

On Wednesday September 26th, theoretical physicist Sean Carroll will give an Ehrenfest colloquium. It is part of a lecture series that has been running since 1912 and was founded by physicist Paul Ehrenfest.

Carroll works at Caltech in the research areas of cosmology, field theory and gravitation. To the broader audience he is famous for his appearances on television shows and his popular scientific books From Eternity to Here, The Particle at the End of the Universe and The Big Picture: On the Origins of Life, Meaning, and the Universe Itself.

Traditionally, after each Ehrenfest colloquium the speaker signs the famous signature wall, which used to be part of Ehrenfest's house, and can now be found in the Oort building at Leiden University. Physicists that spoke at the colloquium include: Einstein, Bohr, Pauli, De Sitter, Planck, Maldacena, ‘t Hooft, Englert and Thorne.

Entrance to the colloquium is free. If there is no more room or if you can’t make it to Leiden, you can watch the livestream.
