Jorrit Rijpma speaks at Roundtable at the University of Amsterdam
On Friday 23 February Jorrit Rijpma spoke at the Roundtable “Whispering in the Prince’s Ear?” at the University of Amsterdam.
The workshop brought together scholars and practitioners on the question of knowledge production and dissemination as a source of political actorness in the European Union (EU) Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) domain.
Rijpma, Associate Professor at the Europa Institute, looked at the role of EU agencies in response to the “migration crisis”. He argued that not only did JHA greatly influenced the EU’s legislative and policy response, they also themselves constituted part of the EU’s answer by being endowed with new tasks and powers for the management of migration and asylum.
