Introducing: PhD candidates ERC project 'Rethinking Disability'

Three PhD candidates have recently started working in the ERC project 'the Global Impact of the International Year of Disabled Persons (1981) in Historical Perspective', which is led by Dr. Monika Baar. They are introducing themselves and their projects.

Anna Derksen

Anna Derksen is a PhD candidate at Leiden University Institute for History. Her thesis examines the International Year of Disabled Persons (1981) with a focus on the Nordic countries and their contributions to social and developmental policies and international rights agendas. Anaïs van Ertvelde

Anaïs van Ertvelde is a PhD candidate at the Leiden Institute for History. She is working on a thesis that investigates the cross-Iron Curtain impact of the UN International Year of Disabled Persons (1981). Introducing Anaïs van Ertvelde.
