Prize for best academic article in Public Administration

Dimiter Toshkov, Assistant Professor at the Institute of Public Administration, is a joint winner of the Haldane prize for best article published in 2013 in Public Administration - one of the oldest and most prestigious scientific journals in this academic field.

The award-winning article ' Policy making beyond ideology: the adoption of smoking bans in Europe' studies why some European states enacted restrictions on smoking in bars and restaurants much sooner than others, and what made the policy spread like wildfire across the European continent after 2004. The article is praised for its ' sophisticated and highly competent empirical analysis that includes both event history and ordinal regression analysis'. More information about the award is available  here. More information about the article can be found  here. In 2011, Dimiter Toshkov won the award for best article in European Union Politics.
