Mixtec activist Gabina Aurora Pérez Jiménez Honoured
Mixtec researcher and cultural activist Gabina Aurora Pérez Jiménez (Faculty of Archaeology, Leiden University) has been awarded a Medal of Merit during the World Conference of Indigenous Woman in Lima, Peru.
Over 200 woman leaders of indigenous movements from all over the world were present. Gabina Aurora Pérez Jiménez received this honour in recognition of her contributions to the struggle for recognition of the rights of indigenous peoples. In particular the advancement of the rights and emancipation of indigenous women.
