Christa Tobler in the programme "ochtendspits" BNR nieuwsradio
On 1 July 2019, the radio programme "ochtendspits" contained an interview with Christa Tobler on the issue of the equivalence of the Swiss stock exchange with EU rules.
The European Commission's equivalence decision expired on 30 June 2019, meaning that dealers in the EU can no longer trade at the Swiss stock exchange. The background to this is the discontent of the EU over Switzerland's taking time in agreeing to sign a deal on new institutional rules for a number of existing market access agreements between Switzerland and the EU. The two issues have no legal links. The Commission recognises that Switzerland meets all conditions for equivalence. The Swiss government has taken counter measures prohibiting dealers in the EU from trading Swiss shares outside Switzerland.
