Centre for the Study of Religion
Research
LUCSoR has chairs in Comparative Religion, Islam in the West, Christianity, and Judaism. Main areas of expertise include ancient Mesopotamian religions, the Enlightenment, Islam in the West, and new spiritual movements.
Expertise
LUCSoR staff have disciplinary expertise in a wide range of fields, including anthropology, (art) history, law, philology, psychology, and sociology. We are particularly interested in how religious traditions evolve, and in how individuals give form to religion, sometimes in ways that cut across established boundaries between established religious traditions and between religion and non-religion.
Religion & Philosophy Network
The Religion & Philosophy Network includes researchers based in LUCSoR and in LIAS, and brings together experts on religious and intellectual traditions from around the world.
NOSTER
Netherlands School for Advanced Studies in Theology and Religion (NOSTER) offers training programmes for PhD-students and organizes workshops and conferences for senior scholars in the study of religion and theology.
