Despite long-standing policy commitments, the Netherlands continues to fall short in providing disabled people with inclusive lifelong learning opportunities. Research shows persistent barriers in the Dutch education system, yet we lack insight into why equity efforts have partly failed, which barriers are most salient, and how they intersect. This project addresses these gaps through a transdisciplinary approach that combines historical analysis with the lived perspectives of disabled people. Focusing on stigma, it examines barriers across three key educational transitions. The project will co-produce solutions with disabled people, stakeholders, and networks, delivering a transferable framework and practical tools to dismantle barriers.
