Note taking and writing
The final session of this cycle will be a hands-on session about notetaking and writing. We will reflect on different note-taking habits and try out new approaches. Whether you are struggling with scattered notes or simply curious about methods, this session is for you!
Keeping track of notes and ideas while juggling extensive reading can be overwhelming. In this session, we will explore strategies for organizing notes more efficiently to enhance both research and writing. Good notetaking is particularly crucial in empirical legal research and interdisciplinary work, where managing diverse sources and tracking insights is key to building well-structured arguments.
We will introduce the Zettelkasten method, a system for linking ideas developed by Niklas Luhmann, the influential philosopher of social science and inventor of systems theory, who used it to produce an extensive body of work. We will also discuss tools like Obsidian (which integrates with Zotero) and other software to help streamline your research and writing process.
