The courses are specifically designed for this research MA and have a clear interdisciplinary approach. You will be guided and supervised by staff with various area and disciplinary expertise, including history, literature and film studies, anthropology, economics, human geography, and political science. You will also be able to benefit from excellent facilities, in particular those of the Africa Studies Centre Leiden (ASCL). The ASCL is an interfaculty institute of Leiden University and the only multidisciplinary academic knowledge institute in the Netherlands devoted entirely to the study of Africa.
