Creative Strategies for a Society in Change
The minor Creative Strategies for a Society in Change (CSSC) creates a connection between gaining insight into creative making processes and exploring societal issues that characterize our time.
The perspective is that of the visual arts disciplines, including film and design. The thematic focus lies on two profound, broad societal developments that bring with them a wide range of topics, such as migration and climate change, the struggle against colonialism and racism, or gender and feminist politics.
CSSC considers these developments from the viewpoint of filmmakers, artists, and designers, taking their work as a starting point for reflection. Two approaches to working take center stage: on the one hand, the film essay, and on the other, social justice activism. A characteristic feature of the CSSC minor is the active involvement of artists.
The CSSC courses connect theory and practice and allow introduction and deepening to go hand in hand. The aim is to acquire theoretical insights into creative practice, but also to gain understanding of these practices themselves, offering students opportunities to use creative processes in producing the final work for their course components.
