Admission & Application

Limited number of places

Every minor has a limited number of places. These are allocated on a first come, first served basis (with the exception of TU Delft and Erasmus minors with admission requirements*). So apply on time.

Maximum of one minor

You may only apply for one minor with admission requirements. You may only apply for one TUD/EUR/LDE minor. If you are placed on a waiting list, you may apply for another Leiden minor (without admission requirements). Please note: you can only follow one minor. Are you placed on two waiting lists? Deregister from one of the two minors and apply for a different one.

For questions about applying, contact 071 – 527 1111 or studielijn@leidenuniv.nl.

Application Process

Steps to take
Students of Leiden University, TU Delft and Erasmus University have to apply via EduXchange.

External students (from research universities as well as universities of applied sciences) can apply for just one of the Leiden minors. This is not done through eduXchange, but through the procedure described here.

When and how can you sign up?

Admission requirements
Admission criteria apply to this selection Minor (see Appendix 2 of the Education and Exam regulation BSc Programmes (OER)). It is mainly accessible to students in Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences, (Nano)Biology, Life Science & Technology and Biomedical Sciences who have successfully completed two (bio)chemical practical courses of at least 3 ECTS each. Moreover, students must demonstrate sufficient knowledge of genetics, cellular biochemistry and (bio)pharmacy; students may be invited for an interview with the minor coordinator. Students may be asked to study selected parts of textbooks prior to the start of the minor.

The programme cannot be split into two parts of 15 EC and courses cannot be taken separately as an elective course.

Minimum/maximum capacity: 10/40. Since the number of students in laboratory courses is limited, the maximum number of students in this minor is strictly limited to 40.

Registration
This is a selection minor with early registration deadlines. For more information on when and how to sign up, please look at the E Prospectus.

All students will remain on a waiting list until final placement. For TUD/EUR students a maximum of 7 places per university are available in the minor DSDT.

All students outside Leiden University, TUD or EUR should always apply via the Minor Coordinator.
