17 July 2026 – New course portal for LUMC Boerhaave Continuing Medical Education (CME)

As previously announced, we moved to a new website, namely the Leiden University – Education for Professionals website.

The current website www.boerhaavenascholing.nl will remain online until 1 December 2026. Read more about what this means for you further on in this news item. This means that you will automatically be redirected to the new website for CME courses taking place after 1 October 2026.

Collaboration with Leiden University 
LUMC Boerhaave CME is part of the LUMC, but also works closely with Leiden University. By offering continuing medical education courses via Leiden University Academy (education for professionals), these become part of a larger and broader framework of interdisciplinary post-graduate education.

New course portal
In addition to a new website, we have also switched to a new course portal. On Thursday 16 July, the LUMC Boerhaave CME courses taking place after 1 October were transferred to the new course portal. From Friday 17 July, you can therefore view your registration(s) (if the CME course takes place after 1 October 2026) via the new course portal: https://courseportal.universiteitleiden.nl. 

Courses that take place before 1 October 2026 are still accessible in the old ‘Mijn Boerhaavenascholing’ environment.

Creating an eduID 
To access the course portal, you will need an eduID. This is a personal account that allows you to log in to educational services, even if you are not a student or staff member at Leiden University. 
 
What do you need to do?
Step 1: Go to https://courseportal.universiteitleiden.nl and select ‘Log in with eduID’.
Step 2: Select the situation that applies to you below:
•    Don’t have an eduID yet? Create a new eduID. Use the email address to which you have already registered for the course.
•    Do you already have an eduID linked to the email address you have registered with for the course? Log in straight away using your existing eduID.
•    Do you already have an eduID, but is it linked to a different email address than the one you are already registered to for the course? First, log in to your eduID via eduid.nl. Then, change your email address to the one that you registered with for the course. Only then should you go to the course portal and log in.

Please note: If you are using a different email address than the email address your course is registered to, the portal will be empty and you will not be able to view your enrolment. The system only recognises you via the email address to which this email is sent.

You do not need to re-enrol for the course. Your existing enrolment has already been transferred to the new system.

Do you have any questions, or are you having trouble logging in? We would like to refer you to the ISSC Helpdesk (ICT Shared Service Centre) at Leiden University. What else is changing, and what do you need to do?

•    The old course portal ‘Mijn Boerhaave Nascholing’ will eventually be phased out, but will remain available until 1 December 2026. Please download any certificates and course materials stored in this environment before this date. After 1 December 2026, these files will no longer be available.

•    The Moodle learning environment is being replaced by the Brightspace learning environment – Moodle will remain available until 1 December 2026 at the latest. If you wish to keep any course materials from Moodle, please download them before 1 December 2026. All information currently stored in Moodle will no longer be available following the transition on 1 December 2026.

For many years, LUMC Boerhaave CME has been the go-to place for healthcare professionals to learn the latest innovations, skills and guidelines. The course catalogue will move from the current website to Leiden University Academy on 15 and 16 July 2026. Below we have stated more details. 

Collaboration with Leiden University 
LUMC Boerhaave CME is part of the Leiden University Medical Center, but also works closely with Leiden University. By offering CME courses via Leiden University Academy (education for professionals), these will become part of a larger and broader framework of interdisciplinary post-graduate education.

What is changing and what do you need to do?

•    The website www.boerhaavecontinuingmedicaleducation.com will redirect to the Leiden University Academy website: www.universiteitleiden.nl/en/education/education-for-professionals from 17 July 2026. 
•    To facilitate the transition, the current website www.boerhaavecontinuingmedicaleducation.com will remain online for a few more months, so the course catalogue will temporarily be available in two places. This website will be taken down on 1 December 2026.
•    The migration to the new website will take place on 15 and 16 July 2026. Consequently, it will temporarily not be possible to register for CME courses taking place after 1 October 2026 on those two days. From 17 July onwards, these courses will be accessible again and you will be able to register. Registrations will then take place via Leiden University’s new course portal. For CME courses that take place before 1 October 2026, you can still register via the Boerhaave website as usual.
•    ‘My Boerhaave Nascholing account’ will be available until 1 December 2026. Please download your certificates and course materials before this date. After 1 December 2026, these files will no longer be available
•    Leiden University is launching a new course portal, where each learner having their own personal space containing details about their enrolment, etc.
•    The Moodle learning environment is changing to the Brightspace learning environment and Moodle will remain available until 1 December 2026. If you wish to keep course materials from Moodle, please download them before 1 December 2026. All information currently stored in Moodle will no longer be available after the transition on 1 December 2026.
