North America
Decisions taken in Washington have a direct impact on Europe, ranging from security and the economy to technology and democracy. Academic knowledge about North America places political and social changes within their historical, cultural and international context.
Leiden University offers this knowledge through a unique interdisciplinary approach within the humanities. Historians, American studies scholars, cultural studies scholars and researchers in the field of international relations bring together history, culture, media and politics into a single, coherent perspective. In this way, they explain not only what is happening, but also why developments arise and what significance they hold for the Netherlands, Europe and the world.
