LUC Preview Classes for Applicants

As part of the selection process of Leiden University College, we ask students to attend an LUC preview class.

Preview classes are a great way to get a sense of LUC's teaching style and interact with our staff. The classes on offer are one hour in length and are offered online. We expect you to switch on your camera during this class, so that it mimics a real class as much as possible. The teacher will not evaluate your performance; instead, you will write a reflection about your experience in the preview class.

After you sign up for a class, you will receive a link to MS Teams where the class will take place, so keep an eye on your mailbox. The email will be sent by notifications@youcanbook.me, so make sure to add them to your safe sender list!

The true LUC experience lies in approaching every learning experience with an open mind, so pick a topic you might be unfamiliar with if you like. Perhaps during these classes, you engage with something new that opens up a new avenue for you!

All our preview classes are scheduled for 10:00, 15:00, and 20:00 CET (Amsterdam) time. If you are an early bird applicant, you can take your preview class between 19/01/2026 and 13/02/2026. Regular deadline applicants can take their preview class between 06/04/2026 and 01/05/2026.

Note: when you visit YouCanBookMe to select your class, the class name is not displayed, so keep this schedule on hand. All classes are in CET (Amsterdam) time. Take note of multiple options that work for you, as classes fully booked will be removed from the booking system.

Error in the Schedule

Dear applicants,

Due to an error on our behalf, the class titles “Can pre-emptive war be justified?” and “Anticorruption: should we be doing it?” were accidentally swapped on the schedule.

Because of this, some students may have booked one class based on the title shown, but will actually be attending the other class at that time (and vice versa).

✅ The schedule shown below is now correct and fully up to date.
Both classes will be taught at the correct times as listed in the updated schedule.

If you would like to attend a different class as a result of this change, please cancel your existing booking and book a new class using the updated schedule below.

Submitting the Reflection and Deadlines

Following your preview class, you will receive an online form through which you can submit a 150-word reflection on your LUC preview class. This reflection will be added to your application and will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee together with the documents you submitted when you applied.

Applicants who apply for the early bird deadline need to submit their preview class reflections no later than 15 February 2026.

Regular deadline applicants need to submit their preview class reflections no later than 3 May 2026.
