Zhichao Fang is a visiting researcher at the Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) of Leiden University in the Netherlands. His PhD research focuses on the development and application of usage metrics and altmetrics, especially for the application of altmetric data in identifying and tracking hot research topics.

Zhichao obtained his B.S. (2014) in Public Administration and M.S. (2017) in Scientometrics at Dalian University of Technology in China. He joined the CWTS in September 2017 after being awarded the CSC scholarship from China Scholarship Council for pursuing PhD.
