Yuhao Tan is an External PhD Candidate at the Van Vollenhoven Institute (VVI). His research interests encompass legal anthropology and international development, with a particular focus on traditional authority, customary law, institutional legitimacy, and state–society relations in Africa.

Yuhao holds an MSc in International Development from the University of Edinburgh and a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Government and International Relations from Hong Kong Baptist University.
