Wiebe Ruijtenberg is a PhD candidate at the Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology, Leiden University. He is currently finishing his dissertation, which builds on over a year of ethnographic fieldwork with Egyptians in Amsterdam to examine emerging forms of migrant citizenship in a context of welfare reforms and exclusionary politics.
