Ting Cong is a full professor at the College of Publishing, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST), and a visiting researcher at the Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS), Leiden University. He obtained his PhD degree (2014) in Publishing studies at Wuhan University. Now he serves as a member of the Academic Research Committee of the Shanghai Society of Science and Technology Journals, a visiting fellow at the Institute of Digital Publishing, Wuhan University, and an editorial board member of China Scientific and Technical Terminology, China Digital Publishing, and Digital Publishing Studies.

His research interests include academic publishing, open science, and social media metrics, with a particular focus on comparative studies between global and local platforms. He further investigates social media metrics through the lens of scholarly journals and conducts content analyses of Science WeChat posts, providing comparative insights into the dynamics between global and local platforms in scholarly communication.
