Simay Çetin is a PhD candidate on the NWO-funded project "At Home Otherwise: Rethinking Heritage through Diversity.” Her research project examines homebuilding in allotment gardens through everyday heritage practices. She holds a BA from Sciences Po Paris and an MSc in Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology (Global Ethnography) from Leiden University. Her graduate thesis, which used digital ethnography and timeline drawings to explore how Turkish-Dutch women experience sexuality, won both the FSW Thesis Award (2021) and the Speckmann Prize (2022). Her research interests include migrant homemaking, everyday heritage, sensoriality and affect, alongside broader interests in sexuality and an emerging focus on the anthropology of leisure.
