Rychard Bouwens has Bachelor of Science degrees from Hope College in physics, mathematics and chemistry (magna cumlaude). At the University of California-Berkely he obtained his PhD with his research in Galaxy Formation and Evolution. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the ACS GTO Team of the University of California-Santa Cruz and is currently working as an Associate Professor at the Leiden Observatory.
