Rita Spithoff participates as dual PhD-candidate in the programme of Leiden University Dual PhD Centre The Hague. Working title : 'The deletion and retention of the particle ne in negations in spoken contemporary French: morpho-phonological factors'.

Since a few years Rita Spithoff is working as a teacher of French Language in adult education, located in Rotterdam. Besides teaching, Spithoff takes care of a number of processes concerning quality and examination. Spithoff participated in the master French Language and Linguistics of Leiden University, combining her study and professional career.

Her research focusses primarily on the question which morphological and phonological factors are (possibly) involved in the deletion and retention of the particle ne in negations such as ne…jamais (never), ne…rien (nothing) en ne…personne (nobody), in spoken modern French.
